- Everyone,it seems, has a version of this song and I am no exception. This version was written for a youth choir, so I kept the voice leading simple, added a tonic 'oo' to keep things on pitch, and also made the arrangement go from quiet, to loud to contempletive with a light gospel swing.

An American Spritual Cantata

This cantata was composed for Lenten services at the First Congregational Church in Hanover, MA and has also been performed by the Harbor Choral Arts Society as well as in France and Canada. It is a unique mixture of classic Latin Mass texts juxtaposed with well known American Spirituals. The music ranges from intense to contemplative and joyful gospel. The last movement is probably the most moving piece I have ever written, and is also my most requested , especially the section called 'The Litanies'. Piano part is of moderate difficulty.

'ARIA' from 'SUITE in D'

- This is the classic'Air on a "G" String by J.S.Bach ( yes I changed the key - in order for it to be more vocal friendly) from the 'Suite in D'. One of his most beloved melodies, it is beautiful when performed by a wordless choir with Acoustic Bass. This works in either a 'classic' style with ARCO bass and 'oo's' in the choir, or in the Swingle Singers tradition with 'doo's and a Pizzicatto Bass. May also be performed with only 3 choral parts as the bass line is doubled.
